D^D Rj - [PaDORI HATPIN NEWSLETTER Northfield, Minn, September, 1971 ?I SPENT THE SUMMER TRAVELING. I GOT HALFWAY ACROSS MY BACKYARD." -Louis Agassiz, naturalist * If this is your first PIN-POINT and/or you havea't belonged to HATPIN before, this is an invitation to join us in our environmental endeavors; we think that you-of all Northfielders-might be particularly interested in the pursuits of our organization. The two-page addendum to this PIN-POINT ("Everything you wanted to know about HATPIN...") will answer questions about HATPIN and what membership in it means. Both new and old members take note: This issue oYpYn-POINT will be the only one received by you until your 1971-72 membership dues are paid. Fill out the form on the last page of this mailing and send in before September expires. THIS MONTH- All are invited to come to an I AM CURIOUS, HATPIN party (otherwise known as a coffee party) the evening of September 14 at the home of Betty Palm, 117 Nevada. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. board members will be on hand to answer questions about HATPIN and local environmental problems; they'd also like to get feedback from you on HATPIN's activities. Please come--whether an old HAT or a new one! The HATPIN booth at the Northfield Arts Guild Fair on September 12 will again sell natural dried plant raeterial and other gifts of nature. We will need dried grasses, weeds, seed^pods and pine cones for winter arrangements; shells, interesting shaped rocks and driftwood suitable for dish gardens, plant arrangements or craft projects. Take a walk and see what you can find. The criterion to keep in mind is whether it can be used in art or craft work. We could use some pictures that show how to use our natural materials. Please bring your contributions to Mary Dyer-Bennet, 907 Winona St. by Saturday, September 11. We need things from all HATPIN members.
